Client BriefThe Environment Agency, employing around 14,000 people in England and Wales, plays a leading role in improving the quality and sustainability of our environment. The leader of one of the Marketing and Communications teams asked us to design a day to help “improve collaboration, identify blocks to team performance and develop a team improvement plan.”
Diagnosis, Design and DeliveryAfter a meeting with 2 team members, an e-mail survey with the rest of the team, and some follow-on telephone conversations we were able to develop a clear purpose for the day and real involvement in the design. Some team members were already familiar with The Myers Briggs Type Indicator and we were able to capitalise on this by exploring differences in approaches to decision making, reactions to change and differences in communications styles.
Features of the project design included:· Honest conversations about hopes and fears for the group
· Use of MBTI to provide a language for understanding the different personality types in the team
· Use of the Quaestus “Gameplanning” technique to create a dynamic action plan which builds the capability of the team to achieve its primary task.
Success Criteria and EvaluationThe client was more concerned with a sense of wellbeing and common identity in the team, which will manifest itself in new and more productive behaviours – and delivery of the “Gameplan!”
