Client BriefPrincess Yachts International, a premiere UK builder of luxury and performance motor yachts, wanted to improve the effectiveness of their intensive induction and training programme in their production facilites. The business need was to drive up quality in this highly competitive global marketplace.
The challenge was to transform the capability of 20 volunteers, all of them excellent craftsmen, into truly competent training instructors and on the job trainers.
Diagnosis, Design and DeliveryIn depth dialogue with the volunteers led to the collaborative design of a four day skill building programme, with each volunteer being mentored by a senior manager.
Features of the project design included: 4 day modular programme using classic job instruction training techniques.

Training in use of a standard training session design template
Success Criteria and Evaluation All participants achieved the "Aspire" quality award from the Institute of Leadership & Management (I.L.M).
Greater confidence and quality of those "graduating" from initial training
Better use of existing training budget through the delivery of more in-house courses
